Interoperable The Matrix open standard ensures Element deployments can federate with partner organisations to support sovereign and secure real time communications between multiple organisations. How Element works for organisations Element can be self-hosted, or delivered as a fully-managed solution directly from Element or one of our many hosting partners. Element is the flagship app for Matrix-based communications, and is available to everyone free of charge. Designed by the creators of Matrix and the FOSS Synapse homeserver, Element Server Suite is a professionalised backend that delivers outstanding performance. It includes enterprise-grade features such as powerful admin control, advanced identification and access management, auditing and compliance. Who uses Element? Customers include NATO ACT (using NI2CE Messenger, an Element fork), United Nations, US Department of Defence, the French government (Tchap, an Element fork) and Germany's Armed Forces (BwMessenger, an Element fork). The importance of open source Element (and the Matrix open standard in which it is built) is committed to open source. Being open source ensures transparency, improves security and drives innovation by creating a healthy and competitive ecosystem.
