Wired said Vik's personal project (a Twitter News Mashup) "might well be the best mashup we've ever seen." Vik has been profiled in the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Forbes, Technology Review, Business Insider and CRM Magazine. He also frequently writes for TechCrunch and VentureBeat. Vik has filed 13 patents in the areas of search, social networking, systems infrastructure and data modeling. He graduated with a Bachelor's in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
