After earning a degree in Industrial Engineering & Management from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany and studying abroad in Toronto (UofT), Valencia (UPV) and Stockholm (KTH), Steffen co-founded Gini GmbH (formerly smarchive GmbH). Withhis first start-up, Steffen and his two co-founders (Computer Science background) started with the aim to save consumers from paperwork. More specifically, the intention was to reduce time spent on manually managing documents - both paper and digital - by having to aggregate, sort and prioritize and later accomplish related tasks, paying, replying, reminding or cancelling being just a few of them.
