Ed Downs founded Nirvana Systems in Austin, Texas in 1987, convinced after years of studying technical analysis that trading could be automated. As president and CEO he invented the original concepts behind the company's OmniTrader and VisualTrader platforms, which generate automated trading signals and strategies. Downs holds a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso and an MS in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
