Mike is a former research scientist in the field of pharmacology at Duke University. After a short stint with another medical communications company, Mike formed his own company, Coco Communications, Inc., where he has worked as a freelance medical writer since October 1998. During his career, Mike has written on a wide range of diseases in various therapeutic areas, ranging from cardiovascular disease, endocrinology, gastroenterology, infectious disease/allergies, neurology/anesthesiology, oncology, and transplantation, among others. During this time, Mike has ghostwritten more than 100 articles for major clinical/scientific journals, constructed more than 40 sales training modules, and prepared more than 35 slide presentations. He has also developed CD/DVDs, web-based programs, podcasts, audio cassette and videotape scripts, backgrounders and monographs, executive summaries, posters, abstracts, and clinical study reports. In addition to a PhD from Duke University, Mike completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Emory University and has an MA in (biological) psychology and a BA and BS in journalism and psychology, respectively, from Northern Illinois University,
