Rohit Shinoi is the co-founder of String AI (usestring.ai), a New York-based web data infrastructure company that provides AI agents and developers with reliable, unblocked access to the public web. Shinoi grew up in India, where he developed an entrepreneurial streak early, famously flipping pencils to classmates in school. He pursued a computer science degree as an undergraduate before pivoting into management consulting at Bain & Company, giving him a rare combination of engineering depth and business acumen. During his time at Bain, he also co-founded a YouTube channel with his best friend to help people break into consulting, a venture that was ultimately shut down by Bain. Before String AI, Shinoi demonstrated a pattern of identifying and exploiting arbitrage opportunities. In high school he ran a tutoring business; in college he co-founded a food delivery company that aggregated campus orders to eliminate individual delivery fees. He also spent time at a hedge fund, where he observed firsthand the costly engineering overhead required to maintain web scrapers, a problem that would later become the founding insight for String AI. Alongside his co-founder Logan, Shinoi built trading bots that arbitraged prediction markets and crypto exchanges, and the two recruited early engineering talent from Sneaker Dev, a Discord community of bot developers. Shinoi co-founded String AI in 2023, writing the first line of code that year. The company started with essentially zero revenue in 2023, grew to low-six-figure ARR in 2024, and crossed seven figures in ARR at the end of 2025. String AI raised a seed round of $1 2 million approximately one year before the interview, with the capital still untouched as the company operates near break-even on its own cash flows. The ten-person team serves several dozen paying customers, primarily top hedge funds, and launched a public-facing product in 2026 to expand beyond that niche. Investors include Auren Hoffman (founder of LiveRamp and Safegraph), the founder of GLG, Zapier, and Charlie Songhurst.
