Strayos makes visual AI software for mines, quarries, construction sites and drilling and blasting contractors. It turns drone imagery, LiDAR scans and measure-while-drilling data into 3D models of a site, then uses machine learning for surveying, geology mapping, drill and blast design, fragmentation analysis, haul road and highwall checks, stockpile measurement and mine-to-mill analytics. Ravi Sahu founded Strayos in St. Louis in 2016, and its first product version shipped in July 2017. After it won a $1 million investment as grand-prize winner of the 2019 43North competition, the company moved to Buffalo, New York, where Sahu remains CEO.
