Global AI Internet Freedom Fund (GAIIFF) is a micro private equity fund based in Virginia that acquires and grows Amazon merchant businesses. The fund uses a proprietary AI-powered analytics tool called ATM, built on AWS infrastructure, to source and diligence investment targets by providing free demand forecasting and pricing analytics to Amazon sellers across 17 global marketplaces. The fund closed on December 31, 2020, with a target raise of $20 million, which Simon Gillett stated was met. The fund operates on a two-and-twenty fee structure and has a three-year investment period. As of the April 2021 interview, the fund had deployed capital into one Amazon merchant, a brand called Territree, which focuses on industrial supplies with an ecological sustainability angle. Gillett brings roughly 20 years of AI experience and a 27% IRR from a prior business he exited as a franchise in the Loudoun, Virginia area. The ATM platform, developed beginning in Q1 2020, monitors several hundred thousand SKUs and analyzes nine-figure GMV annually across 50 to 500 connected merchants. The team totals four people, including one researcher, one developer, and two operations staff.
