Ricky Ashenfelter is a Co-Founder and the CEO of Spoiler Alert, where he is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the company. Spoiler Alert is a Boston-based enterprise software company that partners with leading food brands to better manage excess and distressed inventory in the grocery supply chain. This is done through a B2B sales management platform that augments liquidation and donation processes while strengthening relationships with an extensive network of discount retailers and nonprofits around the country. As CEO, Ricky advocates for the role that data can play in recovering value from unsold inventory, and he is a frequent public speaker on food waste solutions in the U.S. and across global supply chains. Ricky has spent his career in software, sustainability, and startups and at the intersection of how private-sector innovations can tackle the world’s largest energy and environmental problems. Before starting Spoiler Alert in 2015, Ricky was a key member of Deloitte’s Sustainability practice, where he led energy and supply chain analyses for major food, retail, and CPG companies, ranging from Walmart and WhiteWave to Nike and SC Johnson. Prior to joining Deloitte, he was an early employee at ClearCarbon Inc. (a fast-growing sustainability and software startup acquired by Deloitte in 2010) and worked with the U.S. EPA’s Climate Protection Partnerships Division. Ricky is a Philadelphia native and Boston transplant, holds a bachelor's in Finance and Environmental Studies from Georgetown University, earned his MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, and was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2017.
