Security Compliance Software
SecurityScorecard is a New York-based cybersecurity company that pioneered the concept of quantifying cyber risk through security scores, operating much like a credit rating system for organizations. Founded in 2014 by Aleksandr Yampolskiy and a co-founder, the company started with two people, zero customers, and zero revenue before growing into a platform used by 2,800 customers worldwide, including 70% of the Fortune 100 and nine of the top 10 banks. As of the September 2024 interview, Yampolskiy told Latka the company was on track to finish the year between $130 million and $140 million in annual recurring revenue, up from $70 million in 2022, and was operating on a cash-flow-positive basis with approximately 500 employees. Governments in 46 countries are among its customers. The company raised a $2 million seed round in 2014 at a $6.2 million post-money valuation and has since taken investment from top-tier firms including Sequoia Capital. Yampolskiy indicated the IPO threshold has moved to $300 million to $400 million in revenue, and the company is instead focused on organic growth of 25% to 30% annually alongside tuck-in acquisitions in the $20 million to $40 million range.
