He also helped to guide industry associations and non-profits, such as the BCTIA and BC Advanced Systems Institute through volunteer work as board member and chair respectively. Barry was one of the top Electrical Engineering graduates at UBC, where he won the IEEE Hackbusch Award. In 1997 he won Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year for Technology for his work at Spectrum Signal. His companies have won several awards, including BCTIA company of the year, and fastest growing company awards such as Profit 100, and Profit 200. Barry is on the board of VRX Studios, an early stage company that builds products for digital asset creation and management for the hospitality industry.
