For seven years Sunil built products with remote teams at National Instruments in Austin. Working with colleagues living on different continents and time zones was extremely challenging. At its worst, remote work was downright chaotic. His experiences taught him that the culprit is ineffective communication. Teams would write lengthy emails talking to each other at cross-purposes. Words would get misconstrued and ideas misinterpreted. It’s hard to build team culture when you can’t see the faces and hear the voices of the people you work with. When he started developing his own projects, he was inspired to tackle this problem through Outklip, a video platform for work.
