Sergio Mendoza
Co-founder and CEO at Airnguru. 1) I designed and built a signature identification system (I didn't find any of the like in the world at the time, so I believe it was the world's first), based on pattern recognition techniques (MSc thesis, Engineering, Pontificia Universidad Católica De Chile, 1988), demonstrating the problem was solvable. 2) Three colleagues and I built the first -and highest scoring among institutions & companies competing for US federal funds- natural language identification system, based on Hidden Markovian Models (Dragon Systems, 1995), demonstrating that the problem was solvable using the HMM paradigm. 3) I developed the math and algorithm behind LAN Airlines' highly successful new multi-level frequent flier program launched in 2010. 4) My team and I invented the "Competitive Position Matrix" visualization (Airnguru filed for patent 2016, 2017), which is a core concept behind Airnguru's products and has been key to generate airlines' interest on our new approach to pricing.
