After serving as the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, Chief Operating Officer and President of SolarWinds, Kevin Thompson assumed the title and responsibilities of Chief Executive Officer in 2010. Thompson takes pride in building user trust, leading the SolarWinds effort to further establish themselves as the best IT (management and monitoring) partner, regardless of how big or complex an environment is – or may grow to be. He has been featured in Forbes magazine as one of America’s top CEOs. Prior to joining SolarWinds, Thompson was Chief Financial Officer of Surgient, Inc., a software company and was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at SAS Institute, a business intelligence software company. Thompson has also served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Red Hat, Inc., an enterprise software company. A Sooners fan through and through, Thompson holds a B.B.A. from the University of Oklahoma. He also serves as a board member for SolarWinds, Instructure, a publicly-traded educational technology firm, and Blackline, a financial automation software provider. Thompson sits on the Board of Trustees for Whitworth University, his daughter’s alma mater. And, as part of his personal commitment to fostering health and wellness through sports and to positively impacting the lives of children, Thompson owns and operates Austin Aquatics and Sports Academy in Austin, TX.
