Kong Inc is an open-source API platform company headquartered in San Francisco that helps enterprises manage, secure, and govern APIs across their organizations. Founded in 2009 and publicly branded as Kong Inc in August 2017, the company operates an open-core business model built on its widely adopted Kong API Gateway, which had accumulated 100 million downloads and 800,000 trackable active instances as of mid-2020. The company last officially disclosed crossing $100 million in ARR in 2023.
