LendingPoint

LendingPoint is an AI-driven consumer and small business lending platform founded in 2014 and headquartered in the United States. The company originates personal loans ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 for borrowers across the full credit spectrum, from scores of 550 to 850, using proprietary machine learning models to price risk across five credit grade buckets and more than 400 pricing points. The company grew net revenue 144% from 2020 to 2021, reaching approximately $330 million in net revenue for the full year 2021, with management guiding toward roughly $600 million for 2022. LendingPoint originated $2.1 billion in loans in 2021 and had already deployed close to $900 million in the first quarter of 2022 alone. LendingPoint raised approximately $220 million from friends and family across four to five tranches before completing its first institutional equity round in 2020, when Warburg Pincus invested $175 million with no secondary component. As of early 2022, the company reported profitability of $100 million to $120 million in net income and held debt capacity of $1 billion to $1.5 billion across warehouse lines, asset-backed securities, forward flows, and bank commitments.

Froda logo

Froda

Froda is a Swedish embedded finance company and licensed bank that provides small and micro business lending across seven European markets. Founded in 2016, the company operates as both a regulated bank and a technology platform, enabling partners such as traditional banks, neobanks, payment companies, and ERP software providers to offer SME credit as a white-label service to their own customers. The company reported approximately $80 million in annualized revenue in 2026, up from $57 million in 2025, representing roughly 30% year-over-year growth. Froda has supported 150,000 small businesses over its ten-year history, with an average loan size of $23,000 and a current outstanding loan book of approximately $500 million. The company is profitable and has raised $49 million in total equity capital, including a $23 million Series B in 2025. Froda's co-founder Oliver Mohseni told Nathan Latka that the company's embedded finance strategy, adopted roughly four to five years ago, has been the primary driver of its international expansion. Rather than building country-by-country on its own, Froda scales through partners, allowing it to enter new markets at a pace it could not achieve independently. The company currently serves seven markets and is building for France as its next expansion.

Fundkite logo

Fundkite

Fundkite is a New York-based revenue-based finance company founded in 2015 that purchases future receivables from small businesses at a discount, providing same-day or near-term capital to merchants who cannot access traditional bank credit. The company targets businesses generating between $1 million and $5 million in annual gross sales, with an average deal size of approximately $110,000 and a modeled payback period of eight to sixteen months. In 2023, Fundkite generated approximately $70 million in revenue and has raised a total of roughly $200 million in debt and participation capital to fund its balance sheet. The company processes approximately 5,000 applications per month, extends offers to about 1,300 of those, and is targeting $300 million in funding volume for 2024. A team of 90 full-time employees, including five engineers, supports the operation. CEO Alex Shvarts, 55, founded the company and remains deeply involved in its technology architecture, writing code alongside a small engineering team. Fundkite's underwriting model centers on cash flow analysis of bank statements rather than credit scores, and the company has maintained a lifetime charge-off rate of approximately 6.8 percent while recovering roughly 50 percent of receivables that enter default before being written off.

Found Surface logo

Found Surface

Found Surface is a programmable knitwear factory based in the Flats neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio. Founded by Aidan Meany, the company operates digital flatbed knitting machines that knit patterns, logos, and colorways directly into fabric, enabling semi-custom garments with a 50-unit minimum and lead times measured in days rather than months. The business serves three markets: customizable apparel for pro sports, museum gift shops, and promotional products; technical textile development and medical products; and PPE and defense textile goods. The company passed $1 million in revenue in 2025 and is targeting $5 million in 2026, its first full year of production at factory one, a 16,000-square-foot facility in Cleveland that broke ground in late 2024 and began production approximately 10 weeks before the August 2026 interview. Meany retains full ownership and has financed the business through bootstrapping, friends and family capital, opportunistic equipment acquisitions, and a rent-free first year from a real estate partner. Found Surface develops its own cotton yarns with American spinning partners and farms in Texas and North Carolina, positioning itself as vertically integrated from fiber to finished knit. With a 17-person team delivering the throughput that Meany says would have required 150 people under traditional manufacturing models, the company is targeting tens of millions of units shipped in 2027.

Accucode logo

Accucode

Accucode is a Denver-based technology and services company founded in 1995 by Kevin Price, who started the business at age 26 with $1,500 charged to a credit card. Over 27 years, the company has grown into a broad platform spanning networking infrastructure hardware, field deployment services, 3D printing, and software development, generating more than $100 million in annual revenue with 150 full-time employees. The company operates across three business units: a hardware division that accounts for roughly 70 percent of total revenue, a services and software segment representing the remaining 30 percent, and a nascent SaaS division called 4WORKS that had approximately $300,000 in annual recurring revenue at the time of the interview. Accucode has deployed tens of thousands of commercial networks for customers including Lumen, which relies on the company for all of its B2B network deployment work in the mid-market segment. Price has used Accucode as a platform to incubate and exit three separate software businesses, the most recent being Velocity Mail, sold to Descartes in 2018 for $25 million in cash after reaching $5.5 million in revenue and $3.5 million in EBITDA. The company remains fully bootstrapped, with no outside equity raised.

Zenbusiness logo

Zenbusiness

ZenBusiness is an Austin-based platform that helps solopreneurs and first-time small business owners start, run, and grow their companies through a single guided software suite covering formation, compliance, banking, accounting, invoicing, and website building. Ross Buhrdorf, the company's founder and CEO, described the company's positioning to Nathan Latka in December 2021 as "the Shopify for the service industry," targeting a market he said represents more than 80 percent of the global economy. By December 2021 ZenBusiness had surpassed 220,000 paying customers, up from 70,000 at the time of a prior interview in September 2020, and was adding between 10,000 and 20,000 new customers per month. Buhrdorf confirmed revenue growth of approximately 3x in the prior twelve months, and the host's back-of-envelope calculation placing annualized revenue north of $40 million was not disputed by Buhrdorf, who said only that the company was "north of that." In 2021 ZenBusiness closed a $200 million Series C led by Oak HC/FT at a $1.7 billion valuation, following a $56 million Series B that valued the company at $256 million post-money. The company employed 380 people at the time of the interview, including 150 engineers, and had hired 43 people in the single month prior to the conversation.
