He speak fluent Japanese and have lived in Kanazawa, Shizuoka, Kyoto, and Tokyo. He is a coauthor with Professor Feigenbaum of The Japanese Entrepreneur: Making the Desert Bloom, a book describing the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in Japan.
