Brian Saunders

CEO at BigTime Software

BIO

He has been a technology executive and a coder for 20-plus years. He helped found and grow SaaS-based companies in a diverse set of industries from communications and human capital management to time/billing and professional services optimization. He is also the CEO of Big Time Software, a PE-backed company with more than 2,000 customers that has created and marketed software responsible for tracking over $2 billion in professional time each year. Executive is, perhaps, a worn-out noun. He don't do new ventures that don't involve a hefty investment in code-related IP. He labor under the eternal fantasy that the best products will, ultimately, win out over the best logos. He walk out of presentations where the speakers encourage developers to be more like marketers and less like who they are. He take a roomful of entrepreneurs over a roomful of MBA's any day of the week. He believe that brilliant managers lead by example; He believe that brilliant teams are built and bred (not bought or borrowed), and he know as gospel truth that there is no spreadsheet on earth that can help you drive the business if you've never taken the time to learn the product and talk to the customers. So, he have a unique viewpoint on building tech companies: companies that make money; companies that deliver products customers love intuitive products that change the way they think about their businesses. Along the way, he suppose he had my fair share of success and setback (still not sure which of those two is more instructive, but he is 100% certain which one he prefer). Would love to chat about both. Feel free to connect.
